‘These photos are part of an ongoing project that I have been shooting for the past few years in various cities around Asia. Sometime in 2008, the number of people living in urban areas outnumbered those living in rural areas for the first time in history. I thought it would be interesting to shoot portraits of these city dwellers combined with the image of a city scape.

PHILIPPE RAMETTE
Born in 1961, Philippe Ramette is a French conceptual artist who plays with the view's mind.
Ramette creates gravity-defying photographs that appear to be digitally manipulated, using cleverly designed weight-bearing structures (or lead weights for the underwater shots), but in fact they are real world settings that were carefully arrangement, in order to achieve these impressive scenes.
In Ramette’s surreal photography, surrealism literally invades reality. These self-designed devices allow him to stand/sit at seemingly impossible angles, hidden by his clothes or the angle in which the shot is taken. For some of the photographs we can visualize how it can be achieved, and the behind it, but for others, just make us wonder in astonishment.

Shoot plan
I want to capture the models face with a blank background as it will be easier to edit on Photoshop. I asked the model to stare at the camera to make him look scary. I also took photographs of trees as I wanted to but the images of the face on to the tree making them appear as the tree is made up of face.
